Ingredients
For the Apple Brownies:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups peeled and finely chopped apples (about 2 medium apples)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
For the Maple Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
1–2 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven
Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper. - Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside. - Make Batter
In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until combined. - Add Apples
Stir in the chopped apples (and nuts if using). - Combine
Gently fold in the dry mixture until just combined. Do not overmix. - Bake
Spread batter evenly into prepared pan. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center. - Cool & Glaze
Let brownies cool completely. Whisk together glaze ingredients until smooth, then drizzle over cooled brownies. - Slice & Serve
Cut into squares and enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea!
